Free Help
The Media Trust works in
partnership with the media industry to support the voluntary
sector's communication needs. It has lots of online guides
to using the media more effectively and can help find you
free help from a media professional through its Media
Matching service.
Journalists, designers, marketing, and PR professionals
offer advice and help to individual charities through this
service. If you need help, register your organisation on the
Media Trust's website and they'll try to match you with a
professional.

This is a free service to
help the voluntary and community sector improve its media
coverage.
You submit your press release (using their online
form) and a team of journalists from the Press Association
will turn around 20 press releases into stories each day.
These stories are sent out regionally and nationally. An
example of the success of this service is when Dorset
Wildlife Trust found themselves in the national newspapers.
They had wanted to tell people that seahorses were breeding
successfully off the Dorset coast and had a really good
picture of a "pregnant" seahorse.

This TV channel is
dedicated to promoting the voluntary and community sector.
It has around a quarter of a million viewers a month.
It's
available on Sky Digital, on cable and for part of the day
on Freeview. If you have a talented filmmaker in your group,
why not get them to submit a feature for broadcasting? For
more information go to the website and click on FilmMakers
Guide.

Community and voluntary
groups in Suffolk can have a free website through onesuffolk.
If you can use a word processing package on your computer
you'll be able to use this service. All you need is to think
about what you want to promote and then come up with some
pictures and text.
If you get stuck, there is help available at the end of a
